SpellTimes is a web and mobile application for UK primary schools, helping teachers share weekly spelling lists with pupils and parents. Our website is spelltime.co.uk. For any privacy queries, contact us at hello@spelltime.co.uk.
What data we collect
We only collect data from teachers who register for an account. This includes:
- Full name
- School email address
- School name
- The spelling lists you create
We do not collect any personal data from pupils or parents. Spelling lists are looked up anonymously by school and year group — no account or login is required.
How we use your data
Your data is used solely to provide the SpellTimes service — specifically, to allow you to log in, manage your school's spelling lists, and receive account-related emails (such as your verification code).
We do not sell, share, or pass your data to any third parties for marketing purposes.
Email communications
We send transactional emails only — for example, your email verification code when you register. We do not send marketing emails.
Cookies and sessions
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in as a teacher. This cookie is essential for the service to function and is deleted when you log out. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Children's privacy
SpellTimes does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Pupils and parents use the site to view spelling lists only, and no account or personal information is required to do so.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely in a hosted database. We use industry-standard security practices including password hashing (bcrypt) and secure HTTPS connections.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account at any time from the My Account page, which permanently removes all your data. To request a copy of your data or for any other enquiry, email hello@spelltime.co.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of SpellTimes after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
